This summer, London Borough of Tower Hamlets is launching the Small Change, Big Difference campaign to help our residents
– Eat healthier food
– Waste less food
– Recycle more of the inedible bits
These three things will not only help the environment, but will also help residents save money
Food for thought
When it comes to eating healthily, reducing the amount of food we waste, and recycling what’s left over, it only takes a tiny change to make a big impact. If everyone in Tower Hamlets used their freezer to store bread, it would save 81,000 slices of bread from the bin every year!
Our campaign has kicked off and runs until the end of August. Keep an eye out for posters displayed across the borough and follow our social media channels where we’ll share tips and small changes you can make.
Come and join us for an evening of ‘Second Helpings’ on Saturday 4th August at Husk where you can hang out, grab a free meal and learn food hacks such as how to cook from leftovers and make your shopping stretch further.

Look out for us at pop-up stalls around the borough in Idea Stores where the Waste and Recycling Team will be offering advice about food waste recycling and how you can make use of your left-over food.
Share your favourite recipes that utilise the top 10 household wasted foods and any great food hacks or food storage tips. We have included some great tips on getting the most out of your freezer but please send in more.
