Does the council collect food waste from houses, and flats in converted houses?

Yes – this is an opt-in service. Visit https://hillingdon.gov.uk/foodwaste to find out more.

 

Does the council collect from purpose-built flats, and flats on estates?

No.

 

What about flats above shops?

No.

 

Can I get a caddy from the council?

Yes – the council provides both internal kitchen caddies and external (larger) ones. Contact the council directly to get a starter kit by visiting their food recycling page: https://hillingdon.gov.uk/foodwaste

 

Do I need to use liners? And what kind?

Yes – please only use newspapers or compostable starch liners, not plastic bags or biodegradable bags.

 

Are the liners available for free?

Yes – and you can sign-up for automatic liner deliveries from the council food waste recycling page.
