Greenwich

Yay! Greenwich Council collects food waste for recycling into energy.

Does the council collect food waste from houses, and flats in converted houses?

Yes – but mixed with garden waste, all in one bin.

Does the council collect from purpose-built flats, and flats on estates?

The Council provides a service to all new build flats and some of the older stock. If your flat does not have access to a recycling service, contact the council to see if they can provide it.

What about flats above shops?

No.

Can I get a caddy from the council?

Yes – the council provides 6 litre internal kitchen caddies. Contact the council directly to get a replacement: https://www.royalgreenwich.gov.uk/forms/form/206/en/order_household_recycling_and_waste_items

Do I need to use liners? And what kind?

Yes – please only use compostable starch liners, not plastic bags or biodegradable bags.

Are the liners available for free?

No.

Where can I find more information about my council food waste recycling service?
