Croydon
Yay! Croydon collects food waste for recycling into energy.
Does the council collect food waste from houses, and flats in converted houses?
Yes.
Does the council collect from purpose-built flats, and flats on estates?
Yes.
What about flats above shops?
No.
Can I get a caddy from the council?
Yes – the council provides both internal kitchen caddies and external (larger) ones. A starter kit was provided recently to all residents eligible for the food waste service, but if you need a new caddy then contact the council via contact@croydon.gov.uk
Do I need to use liners? And what kind?
You don’t need to use liners, but it will make it easier to keep your caddy clean. Please only use newspaper to line your caddy, or compostable starch liners – not plastic bags or biodegradable bags.
Are the liners available for free?
No – but you can buy these from a wide range of shops around Croydon, and the council has recently provided a starter food recycling kit to eligible residents which includes a small roll of liners.
