City of London
Yay! City of London collects food waste for recycling into energy.
Does the council collect food waste from houses, and flats in converted houses?
Yes, although there are very few residential houses in the City of London.
Does the council collect from purpose-built flats, and flats on estates?
Yes – most estates have a food waste recycling service but check on the City of London website to find out if your estate has a collection.
What about flats above shops?
n/a
Can I get a caddy from the council?
Those estates with a food waste recycling collection also provide caddies and liners. Contact your estates office (which you can also do via the City of London website) to order a caddy if you don’t have one.
Do I need to use liners? And what kind?
Yes – again, from the estates office for most residents. Please only use compostable starch liners, not plastic bags or biodegradable bags.
Are the liners available for free?
Yes.
Where can I find more information about my council food waste recycling service?
