Camden
Yay! Camden collects food waste for recycling into energy.
Does the council collect food waste from houses, and flats in converted houses?
Yes
Does the council collect from purpose-built flats, and flats on estates?
Yes – most estates have a food waste collection. To check if yours does, have a look at the Camden council website and search under ‘communal collections’.
What about flats above shops?
No, not as a separate and dedicated service – but if you live in a flat above a shop, you’re eligible for Camden’s standard kerbside food waste service. You just need to contact the council recycling team to find out more.
Can I get a caddy from the council?
Yes – the council provides both internal kitchen caddies and external (larger) ones for houses and flats in converted houses. Contact the council directly to get a replacement here: https://environmentservices.camden.gov.uk/property?
Do I need to use liners? And what kind?
Not necessarily, if you live in a house and have a kerbside collection – but you do if you live in a flat. You can order them from the council at https://environmentservices.camden.gov.uk/property? or buy them from most supermarkets.
Are the liners available for free?
If you live in a flat you can order them for free from the council.
