Brent

Yay! Brent collects food waste for recycling into energy.

Does the council collect food waste from houses, and flats in converted houses?

Yes.

Does the council collect from purpose-built flats, and flats on estates?

Yes – most flats have food collections, but if you believe your block of flats doesn’t have one, the council would like you to get in touch!

What about flats above shops?

No.

Can I get a caddy from the council?

No – not for inside your home, but communal bins are provided outside blocks of flats, and external caddies are provided for houses and flats in converted houses. Order external caddies from the council’s website: https://www.brent.gov.uk/container-request/lookup

Do I need to use liners? And what kind?

Yes – either use starch liners or newspaper to wrap the food before putting it in the external caddy or communal food bin.

Are the liners available for free?

No – you can buy these from most supermarkets.

Where can I find more information about my council food waste recycling service?
