FREE Sustainable Food Fest
1st June | 12:30pm | Southwark
Location: Mercato Metropolitano, Southwark
Come along and celebrate London’s rich, bountiful and diverse food culture with us! We’re bringing Londoners together to share the wealth of food waste prevention and healthy eating knowledge we all bring with us from across the globe. Let’s come together and tackle how we can waste less food, eat more healthily and recycle the rest.
Between us, in this fabulous city, we have the answer to tackling food issues. Join us!
There’ll be a multitude of easy tips and tricks you can take away and implement at home, and the one and only Celebrity Chef Cyrus Todiwala (CBE, OBE) will be giving a cookery demonstration using some of the top 10 foods we waste in the UK; inspiring and motivating us all to use our ingredients in new and creative ways, saving them from the dreaded waste bin. Food for his demonstration will be kindly donated by food waste charity, The Felix Project.
You’ll also have the opportunity to try out some delicious sample dishes, lovingly created from leftovers by the wonderful stall holders at Mercato Metropolitano.
Mercato is the first sustainable and inclusive community market with an Italian soul. It is a playground for food lovers and artisan food producers to meet, talk, relax, shop, eat and share because amazing things happen when you share a meal with your friends.
If every one of us made a couple of small changes each day, together we would make a big difference – let’s do something about the incredible 900,000 tonnes of food that goes to waste from our homes each and every year.
Share your best food waste prevention, healthy eating or food waste recycling tips on the 1st June, using #LondonFoodHacks and be in with the chance to win a meal for 4 (wine included) at Mercato’s community kitchen, made exclusively by executive chef Gabriele Bagni (redeemable before the end of summer 2018) – Mercato Style.
